Functional Resume


This is a skills based, achievement oriented format. Experience and accomplishments are listed in sections with specific headings that extract and highlight only what is directly applicable to the targeted position. It is sometimes considered vague for omitting date and is the least preferred resume format of employers and recruiters.


Functional Format Example:


Administration Management

  • Managed patient administration, payments and customer service for accounts.
  • Provides office support for a specific department of clinical practice.


Customer Service

  • Implemented more cost effective advantages in information technology, resulting in a 15% decrease in patient wait times and 25% increased patient satisfaction.
  • Prepare patient charts; maintains database of patient information, care requirements, and changes; reviews and maintains patient data.
