Interview Questions: Work History

What were your responsibilities?

When answering questions about your current or previous positions, it's important to be specific and positive about what you did in those position(s).

A good response is to describe your responsibilities in detail and relate them to the job you are interviewing for. Tie your past responsibilities to those listed in the job description for the new position. By using this approach, the employer will see that you have the qualifications necessary to do the job. Spend more time on the responsibilities that are directly related to the requirements of the new job.

Be honest. Don't exaggerate your work experience, because you don't always know who the hiring manager will be checking with when they perform the reference check.
